DSinGIS Kick-off Meeting at TIIAME

Tashkent, 10-12 January 2018

In the opening ceremony Uktam Umurzakov, Rector, (Tashkent Institute of Irrigation and Agricultural Mechanization Engineers TIIAME) highlighted the objectives of the project, introduced the representatives of programme countries and the high level guests. Representative of the European Union Delegation emphasised, how the project may contribute in solving problems in connection with sustainable development and underlined, that the goals are fully comply with the UZ development strategy of 2017-2021. Erika Tóth deputy-head of Hungarian Embassy in Tashkent informed the participants, that a cooperation agreement was signed by Uzbek Minister of Higher and Secondary Special Education Inom Majidov and Hungarian Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador to Uzbekistan Peter Szanto. According to the document, legal bases are being created for the cooperation of the sides in education, science and culture through the allocation of quotas for getting education in higher education institutions of the two countries, joint scientific research, and cultural events, thus the DSinGIS project with HU leadership is highly welcome in UZ.

In her presentation, Aziza Abdurakhmanova, National ERASMUS+ Office coordinator introduced the on-going Erasmus+ activities in UZ, while Tulkin Abdullaev, Deputy Chairmen of Uzlandgeodezcadastre expressed the need of highly educated young generation to face with the 21st century challenges and ensured project partners of continuous support. Lorant Foldvary, Project coordinator and Ilhom Abdurahmanov, UZ National coordinator delivered a presentation about introduction to DSinGIS project.

During the Project Management Board meetings the Project Handbook, Dissemination and Exploitation Plan, Quality Manual and the Needs Analysis Report were introduced and accepted by the partners. The participants have discussed the preparation of Joint Research Centre; the Conceptual design of Knowledge Centres and gave recommendations on the equipment purchase for the next period. One of the most important outputs was the agreement on the list of PhD courses to be developed during the project. An Admission and Examination Committee will be formed soon to select PhD students for studying in EU. The First Scientific Conference and Review Meeting in October 2018 will be hosted by the National University of Uzbekistan.
